Toyota Corolla 2005 OBD P0441 & P0455

Postby jcanales » Sun Dec 20, 2009 3:13 pm

I have a 2005 Toyota that I just took in to Pep Boys for a OBD screening exam and they informed me that it had two codes P0441 & P0455. Now my concern is, How much will this cost me?... Does anyone know...If so please respond.

There was a bad batch of main engine computers on that model that would incorrectly control what is called a "purge valve" on the fuel vapor system. If the car has less than 80,000 miles, it's covered by a federal warranty through the Toyota dealer, and it's free.
T.S.B. # EGO41-07. As long as the valve itself is working correctly (step #1), the computer gets replaced (step #2). I hope it's got less than 80K, or else this fix gets really pricey out of pocket, provided it's not a faulty gas cap or an intermittent issue with the vapor lines and components.

You have a (Large) leak in your evap system. Either you got this by age, or negligence of Pepboys crew. It's easy to stick a screw driver through the evap hosline and tell you you need a new one. I worked for this Company of negligent ASE mechanics and have personally known that they cant even put a Brake Star-adjuster on right.
Common negligence is why I personally quit Pepboys chain.

As an employee, I wanted to have a wheel alignment done, It took them "three" days to perfect a wheel alignment which takes 1 hr anywhere else.

This person obviously has no clue about Pepboys and it's employee's.

Ok so back in april I just had to get my ecm replaced due to default. Well now i have four codes reading two p0441 and two 0445. Is it possible this is a default of the ecm again?

Since nothing is wrong with car and i noticed post from mil_magican:

Im skeptical that is an ecm causing those codes! especially on that make and model! It's more likely to be the valves plugged from a deteriorated cannister!

the price always depends on the auto mechanic who will going to check and repair your car. maybe if i tell you the price, you might expect that the auto mechanic who will going to fix your car might give a price that is higher to the price that i am thinking. so my advise is to do the repair by yourself. find a site where you can find auto repair manuals that will help you to fix it by yourself for you to save money.
