2012 Mazda 6

Postby dcourt1024 » Tue May 16, 2017 7:51 am

I have a 2012 Mazda 6. A few days ago my check-engine light came on. Took it in and friendly mechanic received code P0456(small evap leak) Took off the gas cap and said it wasn't tight. Cleared the code and I was on my way. 2 days later the check engine light came back on and this time code P0442 and P04556 when I took the car back and I was told that the Charcoal Canister was cracked and had a small leak and I needed a exhaust gasket. New canister and replaced exhaust gasket. After $450 for parts and labor one day after repair the check engine light is on again and now receiving code P0134 (Bank 1 sensor) is this something I can fix myself or pay another $200? Could it be that I'm a women and he's taking advantage?

I doubt you are being taken advantage of.
If the code is there it indicates an issue.
Two thoughts
1) You could reset (erase) the code and see if it reappears, this will allow system to do a second test/evaluation. If it comes back very likely an issue.

2) As there was some work on exhaust system -gasket? - I would suggest looking at sensor connector. could have been moved disturbed to R&R gasket...
