p0700. on jeep 2,7 crd 2002.

Postby laboheme » Sun Mar 19, 2017 10:19 am

had problems last year with electrics on this jeep. sorted out with the help of kev2.
now for the last 3 months jeep refused to start one morning, checked codes and had the following pulled. p0340, p 0202, and p 0700.checked the main wire harness and found some wires chaffed, so sorted out , had to replace both injector no 2 wires, found to be brittle and shorted , rescaned ,have just p0700, engine now starts, but remains in first gear,or reverse.and enging light comes on straight away when started.any help would be appreciated...need the car back on the road....

2002 jeep wrangler. 2.7 CRD correct?
p0700 is a generic transmission code - there are often codes for trans issues.
Are you using a scanner or relying on the key dance?
>> Key dance will not report all codes.

Its Sunday and getting a CRD wiring diagram might have to wait till Monday....

As you had elec wiring issues I would look at the fuses, and scan if you can.

Thanks for the reply Kev2. its a grand cherokee, with the 2,7 mercedes engine. used a elm scanner just shows fault codes but not the subsidery faults, but allows resetting fault codes, . it clears p0700 , but asoon as engine starts, engine light comes on with fault P0700.

OK a GC, the export are designated as WG.

The shifter assembly is the place to start - if you get codes let us know.

I would say to starts to read trouble codes in Transmission Control Module first.
