No...you have a problem with the Torque Converter Clutch solenoid causing your shifting issues. That's the P1744 code.

Code P0430 states that you need to replace the Driver's Side Catalytic Converter.

If both codes appeared at the same time, also check the wiring harness/connections underneath the vehicle first.

That depends on your competency level...the solenoid is in the transaxle.

I suggest you take it to the Dealer or a good tranny shop.

I FOUND OUT THAT THE SOLENOID CAN BE REPLACED FROM THE TRANSMISSION PAN. SHOULD I REPLACE ALL THE SOLENOIDS(HOW MANY IS IT) OR SHOULD I JUST REPLACE THE TCC SOLENOID? COULD U PLEASE TELL ME ABOUT THE SOLENOIDS ASSOCIATED WITH THE TRANSMISSION AND WHAT SHOULD I DO?

Just replace the TCC Solenoid...it should have a Red/Light Blue wire going to it.

There are shift solenoids (3), an electronic pressure control solenoid and a transmission fluid temperature sensor in there as well.

Get 'em both from the Dealer...universal, aftermarket cats won't last.

I think the solenoid is only available from the Dealer.

I DROVE THE VAN YESTERDAY AND IT DROVE AND SHIFTED RIGHT. THERE ARE NO CHECK ENGINE LIGHTS ON NOW. WHAT SHOULD I DO? SHOULD I STILL CHANGE THE TCC SOLENOID? OR WOULD YOU SUGGEST TEST DRIVING IT EVERYDAY TO SEE IF THE CHECK ENGINE LIGHT WILL COME BACK ON OR IF IT WILL STOP SHIFTING OUT AGAIN.

If it's an intermittent issue, check the wiring and connectors. It could still be the solenoid beginning to fail.

Test drive it and if the tranny acts up again (and you checked the wiring), replace the solenoid.

I've been driving it everday now and the van has been working fine. But in the mean time I bought a 2000 Grand Am GT 3.4. It was running hot so I started with small things first like checking the fan, thermostat, waterpump, and last discovered the heads were warped. I got those fixed and got those put back in and it drives fine. Also changed the plugs, oil and wires also. When I crank it up , the change oil light comes on and I read the manual and it said to reset the change oil button at the fuse box. Also sometimes, not all the times other lights come on like the traction light, check engine light, and change oil light. They were all on at the same time earlier, and then they weren't. Then sometimes they don't come on at all. When the lights come on, the car doesn't act up or anything. I'm just curious. I'm a woman and we worry about things(smile). But I did notice that the lady that had the car before had the fan straight wired and I don't know if that had anything to do with it or not. But other than that , I know that I'm gonna have to get a relay for the straight wiring to the fan, struts, and also someone tried to hook a cd player up and I see the wires to that also. I guess you say that's enough(laughing), but I think if I can get these little kinks out the car everything will be fine.,
