So took my truck to get an emissions test in the state of CT and it failed because of a Vehicle Speed Sensor "A" Failure or P0500. Turns out that the 98 and later Ranger/B2500 do not have a Vehicle Speed Sensor. The Speed input comes from the rear ABS sensor which upon replacing said ABS Sensor, My lights went out and I now know how fast I am driving! Guess that takes away one excuse i could use if I get pulled over for speeding. Gonna go get the reinspect done tomorrow.

(My Mazda is Ranger with a foreign disguise on so all you "stay America Guys" can feel safe about driving a Mazda:-)

The speed sensor is in the rear diff is it not? You're abs light was on as well? If the sensor was part of the transmission then it isn't likely to affect the abs reading or it would use it as a vss input if the truck was not equipped with abs. So of course it would be part of the rear diff and it's just another example of how using 1 part can cause multiple sysmptons if you're not familiar on how the vehicle uses all the systems together. Congrats on a successful repair.
