I check my codes a couple of days ago and had code P0442 & P0455, I checked my gas cap to make sure it was on correctly. I cleared the codes and today the codes came back on. Any ideas where I should go from here.

Thanks in advance
mike

Same exact thing is has been happenning to my 02 durango (4.7l). I replaced my gas cap per recommendations and it still happens. I have to clear the code and make sure I'm nearly full or nearly empty, because it will happen again due to the test process, before I run it through emission inspection (automatic fail if engine light is on).

Inspect rubber hoses / vacuum lines at the charcoal canister next to the fuel tank. I have seen them damaged before.

P0455 (Large Evap Leak) may be hard to find on your own. The best solution for this code or any Evap Leak is to have a shop run a smoke machine to pinpoint where this leak is coming from. It doesn't cost much to do.

For DIY mechanics, there's no point in trying to buy one of these machines for personal use. Most cost over $1000 and unless you have a very leak prone vehicle, you will rarely use it (These smoke machines can be used to find any kind of leak).

Mine had this same error and it also revved. The first thing i did was make sure the gas cap clicks 3 times when you close it. The light should go off. If it comes back on and you haven't touched the gas cap again... mine was the throttle position sensor. It is a $50 part usually and a simple fix. I'm a prissy girl and changed it myself. It only involves 2 screws.
