Hi,

Do not have a code reader yet. We have a 1999 Chevrolet with the fuel injected 350 engine. It suddenly quit running, but will start after a little rest and run ok for about a minute and then die again. I replaced the in line fuel filter, and while I had the old filter off, I activated the ignition switch momentarily and we seemed to get a good quantity of fuel out of the tank.

Any suggestions? I do not as yet have a code reader and the unit is at a station waiting to be repaired but the guy can't get to it and is going on vacation. I am going to tow the truck home this weekend and try to repair it my self. I was thinking it was the fuel pump, but I do not relish dropping the tank and spending the money on a fuel pump when it may be something else.

Is there a way to read the OBD code with a multimeter?

John

I'd probably look for a fuel pressure gauge instead of a code reader at this point! Visual won't confirm enough pressure or flow to start the truck.

Great suggestion! I did buy a handheld over the weekend, buy since the CHECK ENAGINE light did not come on there was no code present.

I have new manual and will have to check the fuel pressure. I am thinking more and more that we will have to drop the tank and install a new in tank fuel pump.

Thanks for the information.
