Ahoy OBD code contactees,

I've been diagnosing my now immobile 99' XJ8 since 4th. of July weekend. It won't start after checking all the usual items, inertia fuel switch, fuse, relay, and listening for any signs of life in the tank without success. The active code is:

P1642-Fuel Pump Monitor Circuit High Input. I assume that has something to do with the situation, but it's not as detailed as I would care to comprehend.

Two additional pending codes are also present which have something to do with the circumstances of it's failure upon braking after a long journey.

P1637 CAN Link ECM/ABSCM Circuit/Network Malfunction
P1111 Intake Air Temp Sensor Circuit Intermittent Hi Voltage

Essentially, the vehicle failed to respond to my brakes at first attempt, and I had to slam the pedal with much force to stop it at the first light back in my hometown. It stalled, and hasn't been able to restart or crank since then. So these codes are indicative of this activity it appears. Any ideas of just what is preventing this vehicle from starting?

So it has no fuel pressure? You need to check the circuit to the fuel pump! those code descritpions are of little use to you when it won't start.

Hi Jeff,

Thanks for this reply. I've just got back from the vehicle and pulled the back trunk panel exposing the fuel pump wires, but of course, they're thicker than flies as to how many are hovering around it. I'm assuming once I've located the + lead and a good ground on my voltmeter, if I get current displayed to it after switching on the first key position setting, then the pump is most likely bad, correct? Anyone have a wiring diagram handy on this model? :) Wishful thinking I know. My regular mechanic dissappeared rather mysteriously recently and I haven't managed to locate another reliable one yet besides the local cutthroat dealership is why I've gotten involved in my own diagnostic work. I'm not sure if any of those other codes would affect the pump's operation or not, but my main concern at the moment if whether any current is getting to it.
