1.9 motor LX wagon

P1443 Evaporative Emission Control System - Vacuum System - Purge Control Solenoid or Purge Control Valve fault

P0303 is Cylinder 3 Misfire

Engine running rough.

Other info: Recently replaced coil pack, which had a hole in it near #3, causing electricity to arch onto the motor.

Baffled.

Need any more info? Let me know I will respond.

Thanks.

Well the P1443 is easy, your evap valve is probably stuck open or simply faulty. Evap systems are to be closed tight and so if a valve gets stuck open, will create a leak and code. You can simply check your connector to the valve, make sure not dammaged at any point, if not then I would replace the valve if not too expensive. You could also try to make the valve open and close to see if its actualy working.

As for your misfire, not sure if you have wires or not but if you do, check your #3 wire and make sure it was not damaged while replacing the coil. SPray some water on it and see if it sparks again. Also, might wanna check your spark plugs, start with #3 once again since its the one causing you trouble. If all is good, then is it possible your coil is not installe properly ?

Let me know !
