My 96 honda civic dx 1.6 has the code P1336 "Manufacturer Control Ignition System or Misfire". It runs beautifully. I have changed the ckp sensor behind the harmonic balancer with a new oem ckp sensor and still the same code. I checked the wiring up to the connector and found no flaws. Someone suggested I inspect the distributor sensors and did find three (3) heat cracked magnetic pickup sensors. I replaced it with a new dist... Same code again. Somewhere at sometime ago I heard of a method of checking the wiring using a long jumper from the source connector(s) (ckp & dist) and running the wire(s) directly to the ecu. Has anyone done ths before? and Where on the net can I find this info? Which wire to tap into and what pin position on the ecu to plug into to check? Any help is good help... Thanks!

Really only two things I have seen cause this code, the first is the crans sensor harness not routed correctly after a timing belt job or alt. replacement and the alt. belt rubs it or the timing belt has jumped a tooth or is not lined up correctly.

Yes agree with asecmt,
Check your wiring up to the PCM check the plug connections well.
you could have a bad new sensor, wiring problem or a bad PCM.
