Check Engine Light on steady, Cruise Light flashing. Cruise doesn't Work. Mechanic read code for evap system trouble. Couldn't find any, cleared codes & thought gas cap maybe loose. Lights came back on within 10 mi. Anybody ever seen this before?

cel on and cruise not working? all the time! Now how about giving us a code and checking the forums to see what they might suggest about that code!

Went back to mechanic today. New code indicated low idle speed. Mechanic cleaned something or other to correct idle speed and cleared codes. (may have been caused by "smoke test" performed yesterday looking for evap leak?) Lights have stayed off so far. Through more research on the internet, it seems that all drive by wire Subaru's interrupt cruise function and flash the cruise light anytime the CEL comes on, regardless of the fault code. If that is so, it should be noted in the owner's manual to avoid confusion. All I could find in the manual was a note that if the cruise light flashes when the CEL is on, have it checked by my Subaru Dealer. LOL! He can't even get an oil change right. (Left the plug loose and oil leaking!)
