Hi,
Thanks for your help in the past. I have another car...a 2002 Honda Accord that is giving P1491. It has over 100,000 miles on it and is a 4-cyln. From scanning through the forum, it seems it may be the EGR Valve, but Im unclear if it needs to be replaced or cleaned and if we can do this or if it has to be done by a mechanic.

Please verify that I've interpreted the code correctly first, and let me know what you recommend.

Thanks again! You guys make everything easy.

It's very rare on a Honda with an EGR code to need an EGR vlave. Most of the times there are plugged ports that cause insufficent flow. As for whether you should go to a mechanic My rule of thumb without being rude is if you have to ask you're probably better off seeking a tech with alot of experience on your car instead of replacing needless parts yourself. If a shop you go too doesn't work on alot of Honda's or drivability work and they tell you it's probably the valve then I'd look somewhere else. That's just my 2 cents though
