I've got a 1996 Chevy 1500 with 150,000 and I get the following codes: P1406, P0101, P0102. Got a used EGR valve, installed it and got the same codes. Is there any way to test the EGR valve off the engine? Not sure if the used one is any good.
Could the MAF codes be caused by a bad EGR valve? Is there anything else I can do before buying a new EGR valve?
Thanks
Fishfarmer

Not to ask the stupid question but did you clear the codes before you read them again? Just wondering. I did that at first> Replaced a sensor, checked the code, light was still on, got pissed, cussed alot, took my stupid pill, cleared the code, and the light went out. Good Luck

Is this a vacuum operated EGR? If it is, I would think you could apply 18 in.hg of vacuum to it and see if it opens or not.

The egr valve on these have a very high failure rate. Odds are the used one is also bad. If not you also need to check the egr passages for blockage, use are pressure and see if it goes through the ports.
