Most of the time if you have a TPS problem you would have a TPS code of some sort. What kind of mazda is it? Don't think a TPS would cause of misfire anyway, a hesitation or stall yes but no misfire. When the light is blinking the PCM is detecting a misfire. At what RPM range does it blink?

How many miles are on it? My sisters '99 626 is very sensitive to worn spark plugs. You may just need a tune up!!

Did you install the proper plugs as well as good quality wires, cap and rotor?

You've got a TPS code now...check circuit for voltage, ground, etc. before condemning the TPS.

Check circuit as well for the upstream O2 sensor as well.

Good luck and keep us posted.

Check the rubber air duct (throttle body to air flow meter) make sure its not split or has any holes on it. If it is split you can wrap it up with tape JUST TO SEE if it runs better. If it does it needs to be replaced.
