I have a 2000 Camaro V6 3.8L and has the code P0137 Oxygen O2 Sensor Circuit Low Voltage (Bank 1, Sensor 2) but does not have any performance issues since I figure that the O2 sensor is more emissions related. Every other day the SES light turns on then turns off but the car runs fine...until today.

It has a decrease in power and has sluggishness and now it also has code P0102 Mass Air Flow (MAF) Circuit Low Input. It comes to a point where the car dies out and I have to restart. When I give it full throttle, it sputters.

The K&N filter is in good condition and the connector to the MAF sensor looks fine (I have a stock intake). There is not cracks on the intake or anything.

I was thinking of removing (and being really gentle) the MAF sensor and cleaning it with brake cleaner but wanted to see if I can get some advice here. Thanks in advance for your help!

The first problem is the K&N filter. The oil from the filter will cause nothing but problems for a Mass Air Flow Meter. You can try to clean it first and see what happens.I would stay away from brake cleaner and use Mass Air Flow cleaner instead.

you could try cleaning it but K&N's and MAF's dont go well together!

Thanks for the reply.

Well I've had the K&N in the car since the year I bought it new in 2000 so after 8 years, the MAF/K&N hasn't givent me any problems until now.

The K&N has not been re-oiled. I checked the MAF 3 prong connector that connects from the car to the MAF sensor and looked fine. I even cleaned it with electrical cleaner.

Checked inside the MAF housing for anything blocking the passage (where the MAF sit) and inspected the MAF sensor and looked fine.

Should I clean the actual MAF sensor with the electrical cleaner?

Thanks!

I cleaned it and the car ran good for like 5 min then it started acting the same. Can the MAF sensor be tested? How do I know it's the MAF sensor or the connector? Thanks!

You can test it with a scope or a good scan tool that can measure the airflow through it! If it's left unplugged does the car run fine?
