As I was looking under the dash for the OBD2 receptacle on our Forester I found a male & female 2-prong green electrical connector unplugged. So I reconnected the pair. When the engine is running the CHECK ENGINE lite flashes & the four codes above show up on the OBD2 reader & will not erase. If I unplug the green connector the codes are gone when the engine is restarted & the OBD2 reads a PASS with no codes present. Are the four codes genuine & what purpose does the green connector serve in the ODB2 diagnostic circuits on the Forester? Mike

maybe it 's a diagnostoc jumper for other systems within the car, maybe it's connectors for other options or systems that your car isn't equipped with but terminated for in the harness and connecting them is causing communication codes! if left alone and all is fine then leave it as you found it. The dealer may know better what they're for.
