I have a 1999 audi a4 quattro with a 1.8 turbo and a 5 speed transmission. The car has 142,000 miles on it and has been sitting in my garage for 1 year. It was started a few times and it ran fine then it sat for about 5 months now when it is started the engines rpms very between 1000 and 2000 with steady accelerator pressure. I bought a code reader but the codes are not in the book that came with the reader, the codes are 17967, and 17953. Any help would be appreciated because the car still has a lot miles left in it.

Those are not valid OBDII codes...OBDII codes will start with PXXXX.

Chances are that your code reader will not read European cars.

You might want to talk to the dealer with those codes for help.

The codes you see for your Audi A4 are the Audi VAG codes. 17953 is the SAE P1545 code - Throttle Pos.Control Malfunction. The 17967 code is the SAE P1559 - Idle Speed Control.Throttle Position Adaptation Malfunction.
