My 2001 Audi A6 2.7T' s check engine light came on hours after passing a CA smog test. I suspected the tester damaged something. The local Audi dealer suggested letting the smog tester to have a look and he was happy to test it.

He ran the diagnostic and turned off the check-engine light. He said he didnt think there was a problem, and gave me a printout with the following information:

-------------------------------------------

The MIL is commanded On.

Emissions-Related Powertrain DTCs, Mode 3:
Electronic Control Unit ID: 10
P1130
Manufacturer specific code.

Continuously Monitored Systems DTCs, Mode 7:
No Diagnostic Trouble Codes recorded.

-------------------------------------------

If anyone could help me understand this report, and suggest a course-of-action if necessary, I'd appreciate it. The dealer charges $166.00 to run the test, and last time I paid to have this done on another vehicle, I ended up paying $110.00 for a new gas cap (and the test)!

The vehicle has about 60 miles on it since the test, and the light has remained off. This was the vehicle's 1st smog test, and it only has a 26,000 miles on it (if that helps). Also, it's a 6-speed manual transmission.

Thanks in advance for any help.

Always,
BGunn

Check that there are no unmetered air leaks accidentally dislodged by the tester or anyone else who's been under the engine compartment lately

Thanks Darkrooms--probably outside my ability to test for leaks, but where exactly would I look for them?
