 Post subject: 99 Acura 3.2TL code P1676

this code is up all the time and the car occasionally stalls out while driving then won't start up. It will turn over and start for a second then just die like either it's not getting the fuel it needs or a sensor keeps dislodging. The code is P1676 and it's described FPTDR Signal Line Failure. Anybody know what this is or even what i can do?

Well, Im assuming you have an automatic transmission? That code's for a fault in one of the data lines from the TCM(trans control mod.) to the PCM. It could be a short or an open in the circuit. I'd start by looking for any wire frays,etc. visually around the Transmissions wiring harness. If all the wiring looks good, then another possibility is that a sensor is shorting the Reference voltage. I think the reference voltage on a Honda product is 5V. When it dies you should check your reference voltage at one of your engine sensors(a Haynes manual would help you here, because the wiring diagrams will give you wire colors etc. and locations of sensors) like the MAF or MAP(?) If there is no voltage or if there is 12 volts,then bingo, you have a short or an open in the VREF somewhere most likely caused by a bad/shorting sensor. (A more unlikely reason would be a bad TCM or PCM, but that's a long shot)
