p/n switch is a park neutral switch on your tranny....it keeps your car from starting on DRIVE or REVERSE. Don't know how it can affect your engine but is that the only code you have ?
YOu might have a mechanical problem that is not coding but still causing problems.

Let me know !

If the "check lamps" light comes on when you hit the pedals, check your taillights. Sounds to me like you may be confusing the "check engine" light with the one you are experiencing. If that is the case, the code you received when you pulled the codes was more than likely a soft code. If this helps put you on the right track, check your lighting harness for a possible short to ground. That may explain the engine RPM dropping. Then again, I may be way off. I base this off of your choice of words while describing your symptoms. Good luck.
