Hopefully someone can help. I have a 1997 Hyundai Accent 1.5 SOHC.
I rebuilt the engine 2 weeks ago, i put in new piston rings, i honed the cylinders before installing new rings. I replaced all the bearings too. I completely reworked the head, new valve seals, a few new valves. I cleaned the other valves with valve grinding compound. Ok here is my problem....Im loosing oil and dont know where its going. Its not leaking or smoking.....it smokes when you first start it after its set all night. There are no leaks anywhere on motor. The engine has 1,000 miles on it since i rebuilt it. Anyone have a suggestion?

Thanx, Troy

Were the valve guides checked? Did you break it in properly? Long enough? What was the reason for the rebuild? Did you lap the new valves as well? Valve seals installed properly? How much oil is it using?

Go back to the basics...try re-torquing everything again.

Sounds like oil is seeping into the combustion chamber from somewhere.

Good luck and keep us posted.
