2001 dodge durango, 5.9, 139,000 miles, after trip up to phoenix, engine light came on, rough idle, started stalling, chugging, misfiring, scan revealed P0141, P0132, P0138, replaced first O2 sensor before cat, engine light still on, and same codes. Going to replace 2nd O2 sensor after cat, any ideas if this will fix it?

Post Cat O2s are not going to affect the running of the truck at all they are purely there to make sure Cats are doing there job

ugh!!! Any ideas what it could be? No other unusual symptoms, the rough idle, stalling, chugging, misfiring always starts after about 3 minutes of driving. Fuel pump--maybe? Its still original fuel pump. Did put some gas treatment in, and it seemed to make a noticable difference.

also, symptoms are only on low rpm, seems to be fine at cruising speed, its just when i slow down and come to idle. Yet, with the engine running and in park, idle is fine, no symptoms, seems to begin when engine's under load.

It sounds like you may have blown a fuse that powers up the 02 sensors heating elements. As well some Jobber brands of O2 sensors don't heat up enough to satisfy the pcm 's requirements and the codes persist. Just something to think about if you did use a jobber sensor but it sounds like more of a ciruit issue versus a sensor issue at the moment.

Thanks Jeff! :)
I took a look and :!: --my 20 amp fuse for the 02 sensor was missing-- :?: ideas as to what this could mean? Appreciate any input, as I am just a girl trying to figure this out on my own.

It means if the fuse is missing then you may have only required a new fuse versus a new sensor and in my opinion you may have been better off with your old original 02 sensor versus that new bosch one. Not to start a rip on bosch thread but I'vve seen them bad enough times with my own eyes to say that they're unreliable enough of the time. My advice is get anew fuse, install it, clear the dtcs and see if any return. Any work done previously that may explain the missing fuse?

Wow!!! I cannot thank you enough Jeff--you were right-- I put the new fuse in and--voila!!! Engine light off and truck running back to normal--could this have been what was causing the symptoms??? I have no idea how this fuse was missing, no work was done on the truck previously, that would explain it to be missing. The only thing that crossed my mind, is my ex is a mechanic, and he used to work out of our house--it would be just like him in a pinch if he needed a fuse--to take one off my truck and then forget to replace it--i could totally see him doing this.. Especially as we broke up during all of this, and he refused to help fix it. He loved my dilemma!!! I did not replace the 2nd O2 sensor after the CAT as of yet, and I am not going to, wish I would have talked with u before doing the 1st...

Darn!!! :x I could have saved myself about $160.00 I spent on these sensors--Oh well-- I learned something in the process and thats priceless-- Jeff-- u have restored my faith in MEN!!! This has been going on for over 4 months!!! You were the only 1 and obd-codes.com that suggested checking my circuit box. Thing is I had 2 guys check out my fuses and they all checked out fine--it was not until you mentioned it again, that I went out myself and crossreferenced location of O2 sensor and noticed it was MISSING!!! Now if this comes back I am just driving this truck off a cliff with ME in it!

Glad I could be of help. I've been known to offend more then 1 person on here with my way of saying and explaining/describing things but like everyone I get frustrated as well with alot of people that come on here all ignorant and judgemental of professional technicans. I've said it before 95% of all the answers people seek can be found on here if you take the time to look. If you ever need anything just shoot me an email and I'll do my best to help.

Cheers!
