I have an 03 Dodge Durango. I have come up with the code. p0440... which I get it often. I have replaced vapor hoses and within the last 6 weeks replaced my gas cap, that stopped the problem until now... I am not sure what else to check... I am not a mechanic. But I am willing to fix it if you can suggest what else I can check... thx

you should find the answer here:

http://www.dodgetalk.com/forums/showthr ... ight=P0440

you need to buy a valve which is about $25.00 and probably a gas cap from the dealer NOT third party.

Good luck

You likely won't find the answer in that thread as the thread starter is incorrect about what causes the 2 different codes and why! The po440 dtc is 90% of the time the LDP assy, the contacts inside it don't switch when it gets filled with alot of mositure, dirt etc and the leak codes are often not caused by the ldp regardless of what he said! yes the aftermarket gas cap will throw leak dtcs alot of the time! the answers to these codes on most dodges are already in these forums on this site! thanks for the link although looks like more of an enthusiast site that has posters that are all lost togehter with a hate on for the dealer then anybody with any real expertise or experience about evap diagnostics and 0bd2 codes.
