I'm working on a an '05 dodge ram 1500 that was throwing an EGR valve code so I changed it about a month ago, 2 weeks later the code reappeared and the truck began hestitating and stumbing again. Any help or insight would be appreciated.

You need the pcm updated!

Thanks. Is that a dealer only reprogramming? Why is it that the truck seemed to run fine for the first week or so after changing the EGR valve.

because the pcm resets the egr position sensor and the dealer only flash is a different set of parameters to prevent the pintle from getting stuck and staying in the wrong position at idle, cruise etc! That's why it ran fine for awhile until the pcm relearned where to put it. Assuming of course you're new valve is good, a piece of carbon hasn't stuck this one and that the ciruits to the egr are good but those scenario's I've yet to see. The other thing to check is that the gasket and o-ring at each end of the tube isn't leaking but if you go to your dealer he should be able to flash it for you. They will charge you for this though.

Good luck and let me know how it works out!
