My 1998 V6 mystique has a p1053 code (Oxygen Sensor Circuit Slow Response Bank2, Sensor1) and sometimes a P0305 (Cylinder #5 Misfire ) which I guess are related but I'm not sure. After some research, I've decided to replace the O2 sensor but have 2 questions:

1. I think bank 2 is the rear bank but I''m not sure. Can someone confirm this?

2. I've heard its easier to remove the sensor with the engine hot but I'm not thrilled about working near a hot exhaust manifold. Does anyone know if its easier hot or does it not make a difference?

thanks,
rich

Bank 2 is on the side closest to the firewall. I prefer to change them while everything is nice and cool. How many miles on vehicle? If it has between 85,000 to 100,000 miles it wouldn't be a bad idea to do a tune up on it, that is if it has not ever been done.
