96 pontiac 3.1 130,000 miles what causes carbon to build up in ths egr port? I thought it was unburnt fuel. If this is correct is there a sensor or somethin else thats not working correctly that would cause this. I'v had to have my engine decarboded 3 times in last 2 years the last 2 times in the last 6 month with the last time last week. I want to prevent this from happening again

Most of the time it's caused by an engine that it's in a poor state of tune, incorrect or failled thermostat, short trip driving, not driving it hard enough, poor quality fuel, etc!

SO you've started a second post does that mean the car is now repairred? If so can you close that post off and let everyone else know how it was fixed so others can benefit from it
