I am trying to fix a neighbors car. It's showing a p0134 code. I've tried all the usual things. Someone had put a new O2 sensor in it. I thought I figured thing out when I saw that someone had tried to put it in or take it out with pliers. The shell had been crushed. I went to a salvage yard and picked one up. didn't want to spend the money if that wasn't the problem. I put it in, but I still get the same code. I've checked continuity in the wiring harness and it doesn't appear to be bad wiring. Any body have any suggestions what I should tryor look next? My lastest scan showed a p0171 also, running to lean.

A bad upstream 02 sensor can generate a po171 dtc as well! If you have a scanner that can plot your fuel trims be sure the 02 is switching, if it's not then I'd start with a new 02 sensor form the dealer, alot of aftermarket brands of 02's will not work properly and can lead to other 02 codes
