Hi,

I have a check engine light on, and I had it scanned to reveal the following codes: p0140 (o2 sensor circuit no activity detected bank 1 sensor 2) and p0161 (o2 sensor heater circuit bank 2 sensor 2). The car is a 2001 Chrysler 300M 3.5L V6 with approximately 82,500 miles. It was involved in a minor accident over a year ago, and that is when the check engine light began to intermittently light up. I'm thinking that the problem lies with the circuit (connectors, fuses, wiring, maybe?) instead of the o2 sensors being bad. However, I am unsure of how to go about solving this problem. How do I determine the exact problem and fixing it? Also, where exactly are these two sensors located? Thank you very much for your help.

Although it is possible the accident is responsible for the circuit issue it wouldn't be the first time I've seen on of those cars from that age with more then 1 bad 02 sensor, 1 of your codes is for the upstream and the other for the downstream. As for which bank is which cylinder #1 will be on bank 1 so find the sticker on the harness that identifies injector or coil number 1 and that side will be bank 1. Some of those cars required a software update for 02 sensor codes. My advice would be buy a new upstream 02 sensor from the dealer, change it, clear the codes, drive it see if any codes reappear before buying a downstream.
