I am having white smoke blow out the exhaust pretty bad. Smells like gasoline pretty strongly. I have changed all the spark plugs and 2 fuel injectors did not help except the 306 code is gone. Im starting to think it is the wiring. It drives hard and blows smoke harder when running. The PO206 code is injector circuit cylinder 6 open Any Ideas Ty
Yes use a noid light to check whether the injector on cylinder #6 is being pulsed, if it is then I'd remove that injector and install it in another cylinder and see if the code switches numbers., If it does the injector is junk. If it doesn't then you have a circuit issue to that cylinder or maybe a bad tps
Why change it out? have you determined there's anything wrong with it? Can you actually test it? i mean not being smart but why throw parts at it? it's a pretty easy test! if you don't have a noid light or a multi meter buy them and use it or take it to a good tech, You'll likely cause more issues by swapping harnesses, and for what a few bad inches of wire? Have you swapped the injector to another cylinder yet?
is it possible im getting this code from a cracked head? everyone keeps telling me i have a cracked head but the code i get is po206. cylinder 6 injector circuit open
So which is the priority? which showed up first or did they show up together? Have you checked the compression in any of the cylinders? have you checked the circuit to injector 6? We're trying to help but you gotta keep us informed and attempt something on your own. Im skeptical the white smoke is related to the misfire but it's possible. Is it white smoke smelling of antifreeze or just white smoke like when the condensation is burning off in the exhaust system? You need firstly to check the injector pulse, see the other post on how to do this!
Ok here is the problem po306 cylinder circuit 6 open. I have changed the plug and fuel injector i believe the injector is running wide open and dumping the gas through the exhaust explaining the white smoke with a very strong gasoline odor. I understand your saying to check the pulse and the wiring but how exactly do i do that? Thank you for your help. Im not very mechanically inclined i read my way through the plugs and injector.
Okay go to a parts store that has a loaner tool program and see if they have a set of noid lights and borrow them. Or buy as set, you can probably buy them from Harbour freight or something similar for under 20 bucks. Then unplug number 6 fuel injector and plug the noid light into it's connector. Start the truck and if the pcm is commanding the injector to pulse the light will flicker, the more revs the faster it flickers. If it doesn't flicker then by the sounds of it you're going to be in over your head. If you're not technically inlcined then and don't take this the wrong way you're better off finding a good tech that can use a dvom to trace the open circuit and repair it. You need some specialized tools to do anything more then what you've done like a compression test, circuit testing etc and tools are no good if you're unsure how to use them or able to interpret the info they give you. If you have a dvom then 1 test you can do is check the resistance of the injector on #6? is it open circuit. If so it's junk.
So it doesn't flicker at all? And that injector is new correct? sounds like you have a short. Yeah I'd get a wring diagram and a dvom and find where in the circuit the short is.
