sorry. it's on 01 dodge durango with a 4.7, i'm using a solus code scanner, and it said foundation brake, or visa versa. and her abs light was on, we changed the front brakes and rotors and fixed the rear drum breaks because they weren't working. the brakes didn't hit the drum. and we i think it there may be something wrong with the proportioning valve. any ideas now?
I don't think that it's a vaild code? I would borrow a DRB3 from someone or sublet it to the dealer and have the code read because I've never seen that code on any dodge. As well I own my own Snap on scanner and find it full all kinds of quirks and irregularities when it comes to ABS. I've never had a prop valve issue on a Durango and I'd doubt it would trun the light on. Will the fluid level light go out? the speed sensors in the top of the diff are probably the number 1 ABS failure on those trucks
no fluid level light. i filled the brake master cylinder after changing everything. i don't think they need to be bled either, and i did't realize the speed sensor could throw the abs light. and as far as a dbr3 i'm not familiar with what that is.
You didn't realize a speed sensor could generate and ABS code? seriously? I think you either have a scanner that's not cooperating or you're not using it correctly. Unplug the speed sensor and see if it'll generate a code that the scanner will recognize. In fact road test it and see what the sensors are reading in the live data display. The DBR3 is the factory supplied scan tool for all dodges like yours up to aroung 2005, it's the best tool for chrysler, the same as the TECH 2 is for GM and the IDS for Fords. Factory scanners are the way to go for efficency and accuracy. If you're not getting any codes or live data then be sure the truck is even ABS equipped. Some have the light and the BCm can get confused and turn the ABS indicator on even when the truck is just equipped with basic hydraulic brakes. If that's the case then you're reading a software glitch and not a real code
