I have a 2003 Chevy Trailblazer LT, 2WD, 6 cylinder.
The cooling fan has been running unusually high and our check engine light came on.
I took it down to AutoZone and the code above came back.
I was told to start by switching out the fan relay [part: Santech MT0506].
Can someone help me locate the relay? I've done a good scan of the engine and don't seem to see anything that looks like the part they showed me? Thanks.

One thing that makes the fan to run 100% of the time is the temp sensor.

Do you have a temp reading. If is an idiot light is not going to fly.

The best way to check this out is take it to Auto Zone and borrow the scanner. If they have the model that you can run the engine and look at real time data you can see if a sensor is out of whack. I have a code scanner that I bought in Auto Zone that does that. It helps to check for bum wires.

On my case... It was on a Pontiac Grand Am with a 3.4L V6 engine. The fans ran 100% of the time but the temp gauge read 0. So I hooked the scanner and found out that if I wiggle the harness, I can get it to about 180F and the fan quit spinning. The problem was the Temp Sending unit cable that broke at the Main Connector on top of the engine, once spliced the problem was solved.

The thing with GMs, when the PCM detects a problem it will run the Fans all the time to prevent the engine from overheating.

The Temp Sensor will give some really odd numbers like -39C and +270C when outside is like +30C (as an example). Most of the time the sensor is fine, just a bad connection.

Try that and see how it goes.
