Recently got a P0135 code on my wifes Sport. Replaced the bank 1 precat sensor but still getting a code after clearing. A previous post said something about checking a fuse. Where exactly would this o2 heater fuse be located? Has anyone else had this problem with different results? Please help, cant really afford massive repair bill.
Thanks

PS The exact code message was as follows
P0135 o2 Sensor heater circuit malfunction
(bank1 Sensor 1)

is this a v6 3.2l- you did change correct sensor bank 1?

hopefullt you did NOT use a one size fits all wire yourself discount sensor?

20 amp in fuse relay box... unlikely 1fuse for all 4 -02s

check the wiring harness at B1S1 sensor rtn shorted htr voltage

it is 6 cyl, I changed the sensor that was on the driver side at the exhaust pipe just past the engine. I used a Bosch exact fit OEM replacement Bought at Pep Boys. I will check the fuse box after work.
Not sure what this means "check the wiring harness at B1S1 sensor rtn shorted htr voltage"
I dont mind doing the work myself, I just dont know where anything is located on this car.
Thank you for the help so far, this kind of problem is very annoying....

Well, I kinda knew that part, :) its the statement in whole I dont know what you mean

"check the wiring harness at B1S1 sensor rtn shorted htr voltage"

Check it where and check it for what? Do you mean the one I just put in, or check where I plugged it into? I had a hard time getting my hand up into where the plug was, so not sure how I am supposed to check something... Please clarify and suggest, I am your willing guppy...:)

He means use a dvom and a wiring schematic and be sure the circuits to the 02 are okay. If they are I'd suspect that Bosch 02 is incompatible!

I hate sounding this stupid but what exactly is a dvom and what exactly am I checking the wiring harness for? I'm assuming you mean use a voltmeter, but what setting and what reading would I be using and looking for?
Thank you all for your patience.

An aside question: How would the sensor be incompatable?

Jeff means using a DVOM (Digital Volt-Ohm Meter) and a schematic (wiring diagram) check the circuits for continuity, grounds and voltage (one circuit should have about 5v - this is for the sensor, the other circuit should have about 12v - this is the heater circuit).

Many aftermarket sensors may not have the exact resistance in the heater circuit that is required by the PCM (the computer). This will cause a code to be set, even after replacement.

Remember: "Exact-Fit" does not always mean "Exact-Replacement"!

I agree with Jeff...take the Bosch sensor back to Pep Boys and get one from the Dealer.

Spoke to a local dealer about the o2 sensor, after choking on the 185.00 price he said the Bosch sensors are good. He also said The bank 1 sensor is on the right side as I sit in the car. I changed the left side. I swapped them out and when I went to clear the code, i got ap1404 code as well. (EGR Valve stuck open)
What the heck is a EGR valve and how do I get it to shut? Will this code go away with the P0135? Or do I have a whole new problem???

Quick update, swapped the sensors around and all codes have cleared. V-6 B1S1 is on the right as you sit in the car.
Thanks to all that gave help, it was much appreciated and probably saved me over 200 bucks in parts and labor.

So the egr issue is resolved as well? you had the 02 positions mixed up? A tip for everyone is when you're trying to determine 02 location unplug the 02 you think is the culprit, clear the codes, then start it back up and see if it flags a fault for a different 02, if it flags the same 02 but the code description changes to say bank 1/1 high then you're on the right one.
