Hi All,

I received the following error code, P0130 -> O2 Sensor Circuit Malfunction (Bank 1, Sensor1). I have reset the code and I am waiting to see if it comes on again. If/when it does I will replace the o2 sensor. How can I go about testing the oxygen sensor to see if it is good or faulty? Is there any type of test I can perform before replacing either of the 02 sensors. This is for a 2002 Sunfire.

Once again your help is greatly appreciated.

Thank You,

Spec36

A scope is really the best way! you guys have to rememeber an 02 sensor has a heater element as well as the sensing circuit. Often times the 02 will still sense but it runs too cool with a failled heater element. Unless you understand diagnsotics and can competently read a wiring diagram and utilize a dvom you're best bet is to replace the 02 or take it to a competent technician. As well your sunfire or just about any 4 cyl inline engine using 2 02's the sensor 0ne bank one is the upstream. Like we suggested replace both the upstream and downstream at that age and mileage and source them from the gm dealer.
