hello, ive got a used 2002 caravan SE with 102k's when i got it... it runs great but the engine light recently lit up in about a week of use... had a mechanic check it and codes p0442 and p0445 come up... after lifting the car up and checking the LDP and Leak Detection Valve, they said that the valve might need replacing since its not holding a vacuum... my question is was there ever a recall on these canisters from Dodge? The mechanic says there's a Tech Service Bulletin that says so but the Dodge dealer i talked to told me there was no such recall. Was the mechanic just dreaming or was the dodge dealer just trying to skirt the issue of warranty claims? hopefully somebody can enighten me on this... appreciate any help on this... thanks in advance

There is a difference between a TSB and a RECALL. http://www.nhtsa.dot.gov/cars/problems/ You can look on this site or google it and see what you come up with.

A TSB is not a recall they are different! I would check all the vapor hoses real good before replacing the LPD. They do fail but the hoses should be checked first.

Im skeptical if the mechanic you took it too couldn't find the leak then I doubt he was testting anything properly. There is a huge thread on those codes on caravans already on this site. Dig it up and all the answeres you seek will be there.
