i have a 97 monte carlo 3.1. it started jerking while driving then it just died, and wouldn't start. my uncle checked it out and put in a new cam sensor becausae it was soaked with oil and coolant. nothing... car wouldn't stay running more then 10 minutes. so he replaced the crankshaft position censor along with the harmonic balancer still nothing. he even went as far and replaced the fuel pump with a brand new one. we've hooked it to a machine and complied with the errors which led us to replacing all the parts listed but now the codes
Code:
p0341 and p0336
keep showing up even after clearing them. i just had a baby and most of my nest egg has gone to this damn car, my mechanic is running out of ideas and i'm running out of time and money can anyone plz help.

Yikes ! You said Oil and Coolant? No want to bash you but that engine seems to be nasty. I had a 94 Grand Prix that did not leaked like that.

Anyway, I will suggest to give a good engine cleaning. Use a good engine de-greaser an lest work from there. Not just replace the sensor, just because showed a code about it. It could be the connection per se.

Remove the plug and use like Carburetor cleaner and get rid of all the gunk, also, check the main plug connector on top of the engine. Do a continuity check to see if there is a broken wire. Sometimes they break due to vibration and heat cycling. Once is all cleaned up and found out that is all fine, get some dielectric grease and apply some to the plugs to prevent moisture and contaminants away. Only needs a dab. Check the routing of the cable that is not hitting hot areas or moving parts.

Just as a tip, if you hose down the engine once in a while, it will keep it clean and free of contaminants that can cause glitches.

If you have a coolant leak, see if you can get it fix. On the 3.1 L V6 is not a bad engine like the 3.4L had a bad Lower Intake Manifold Gasket that leaked. If is leaking on yours it can enter the intake ports in the engine, burnt and expelled. Once it touches the Catalytic Converter it will plug it. The symptoms can be, Slow Acceleration, Overheating, Hard To Crank, Weird Exhaust Smell, Higher Fuel Consumption. It could happen all of them at once or just a combination of them.

I hope this helps.
