I had the same codes last year all that I had read mentioned the MAF sensor & recommending cleaning it. I cleaned it and cleared the codes and they stayed away for about a month I did that just before state emission inspection and passed. What do you think made the codes come back, it is impossible for the MAF to get dirty again so quickly. Do you think it could be defective I want to make sure before I buy a new one and spend $200 +. It has been recommended not to buy a remanufactured one because they have caused problems with poor engine performance. The best price I have found was a new Bosch for a little over $200
Do you recommend I get a new MAF to fix this problem?

MAF is usually what generates the P0171 and P0174 and nissans. Sometimes you can clean but it fails because it looses its calibration and only way to fix that is to replace.
