I have a 96 ford contour V-6 2.5L i just tuned it up after the code P0174 P0171 came up i erased the codes after tuning it up Drove it around the block & the chck eng lite came back on with code P0174System too lean bank 2 any help would be appreciated.I heard you can clean the mass air flow sensor would this help???

Yes, cleaning the MAF with electronics cleaner may help.

Also, check for vacuum leaks, particularly on the PCV system and its hoses. There is an elbow down near the throttle body that goes bad.

It's hard to find it and check because of its location.

with those numbers it a matter of time when the p0171 will come back to. You can try to clean the maf, but you need to check for vacuum leaks.

Thanks for the info can i vacuum check the old school way with some carb cleaner or do i have to get a smoke check done??? I am on a budget trying to keep my cost down. I changed the PCV Valve the new one wasnt real tight going in & how would i get the factory clamp off its one of those one peice banded type?? and hard to get at. plus when i took the old one out the metal tube the rubber elbow was attached to moved a little anything to worry about?? I will let you Know if all of this helps Thanks again

that is usually where they leak..you can use carb. cleaner just be carefull.

I found the leak was tube the PCV Valve sits in & the ribbed plastic hose from the PCV Valve to the filter housing on the firewall the plastic tube cracked where it connects to the Tee at the rubber hose to the PCV Valve Cleaned the MAF & Vacuum leaks all good now. Thank you for all your help I appreciate it :D
