Subaru Legacy 2002 Petrol Engine. Code P0130. Heat Oxygen Sensor(HO2S) Bank 1 Circuit Malfunction. Probable Cause; Heating Inop, Poor Connection,Wiring ??? Second probable cause wiring, 02S ECM. The garage have quoted £300 for the part and £350 for fitting it. It's my sisters car and I would not like her to be ripped off by the garage just because she knows nothing about cars! Looks like all this montoring stuff is to control emmisions .. but as in my trade (aircraft engineering) most of the faults occur in the monitoring systems and not in the monitored systems! Any help would be much appreciated!

More than likely the O2 sensor (Bank 1 Sensor 1).

However, before condemning the sensor, check wiring and connections for voltage, ground, etc. as well as fuse(s).

This can help. If you know how it works, is easier to troubleshoot...
