Hey.
My brother has a 2001 Tiburon 4 cyl, automatic and he blew the transmission like 6 or more months ago. We found a 2001 tiburon that is a standard transmission. My father and brother swaped the transmissions. He put the transmission in and it drives fine and its works great but the check engine light comes on when we goto get it inspected and stays on. So it wont pass inspection. The transmission he got was from a totaled out car but the transmission was fine, im not sure if that would make the check engine light come on or not being how its a totaled car?

He did NOT change the wiring harness but he did change the ECU. So the car does have the standard ECU chip in the car. When he hooks it up to the computer it shows that its an AUTOMATIC transmission not a STANDARD which is actully in the car. How is the even possible?? And they wont pass it without it saying that there is a standard tranmission in it.
DO you guys have any input The car runs like a dream except it wont pass inspection. If you have ANY ideas it will be greatly appriciated. They have been trying to fix this problem for awhile.

Here is the two codes that it comes up with when we hook it up to the computer...

P1613 Immobilzer communication error
P1586 MT/AT Encoding Sig. Error

Thanks alot..
Casey

Do you still have the old auto transmission? I'm guessing that there are some things underhood that are unplugged owing to nowhere to unplug them. Did you put into the car the actual manual transmission ECU, or just the chip?
