I have this code that comes up on my Olds Alera, P0141 Bank 1 Socket 2. I know it is the O2 sensor, but I don't know if it is the upstream, or downstream sensor. How do I figure this out?

I believe you mean SENSOR 2, not Socket on Bank 1.

Sensor 1 is the upstream sensor and Sensor 2 is the downstream one.

Sensor 1: before the catalyst. Sensor 2: after catalyst. Be sure you know exactly which side of the engine is bank 1 also. A twenty dollar Haynes manual has alot of useful, easy to understand info about your car.
