I just replaced the engine on my 2004 Acura RSX Type S, reused the old transmission and now get a P0500 (speed sensor) error. Other than it being a sensor or wire problem, does any one have any thoughts on what else might be causing it? We simply unbolted and rebolted the trans to the new engine and refilled the fluid.

Anysuggestions would be appreciated.

Welcome, adecker!

Have you looked at this article yet? http://www.obd-codes.com/p0500

P0500 is Vehicle Speed Sensor Malfunction. I'm not sure why you say "Other than it being a sensor or wire problem...". Have you verified the wiring & sensor already? Have you tried replacing the sensor?

Thanks for the reference to thee article. The reason I am wondering if it could be anything other than the wiring or the sensor, is because we did recheck the wiring and the sensor on the trans worked fine before wee swapped the engine. The problem we are seeing is that the speedometer works fine after a cold start and then just drops off after about 5 minutes. So, I was wondering if anything else could be effecting it.
