Hi All,

I have the infamous P0440 code....eeh....

I have read up on the possibilities...a little background on my question is...I had rear end work done...and Manifold work done...the dealer did the work...(purchased the truck used and applied an extended warranty)...when complete the very next day after the truck was returned to me the code appeared...

My question is...does anyone know of any vent lines the mechanic could have had to deal with from the gas tank or the EVAP container that might have gotten broken/Disconnected during rear end work or manifold work? (I also know they had to drill out the manifold studs to replace it)

My concern is that it is too much of a coincidence that the code just appeared after this work was done...any suggestions would help...

Well, you can look under the vehicle and see if any evap lines are disconnected to the canister. Which manifold are you talking about? exhaust, intake?

Not for positive, but Im pretty sure that the canister is located midships under the vehicle. There should be a large diameter(1inch or so) hose to another solenoid. That's the vent valve. There should be other lines to/from tank and to the engine for purging. It's a large black square box.
