Hi I am new to your site actually looking for some help on the code that just came on.

My car died in traffic at idle, when I re-started it I noticed the service engineer soon light was on. I got the code P0340 from your OBD-II scanner.

I noticed today it started fine ran well, when I stopped for gas and then went to re-start it it took longer cracking a few extra times.

I see some information discussing Camshaft Position Sensor Circuit Malfunction.

I did see the problem could be in any part of the circuit - the sensor itself, the wiring, or the PCM.

What is the PCM? Where would I start? I will be checking the wiring.

-Thanks for any help.

unless the timing belt has slipped the sensor is likely failled, some nissans had them recalled i think. I'd start with a new sensor before stressing the pcm and wiring

Well got the sensor $30 with tax at All Parts who got it from Nissan part (Kragen bad wanted $48 w/o tax)

I found picture of how to remove it at http://www.paulstravelpictures.com/Niss ... t-070.html

Cool.

BTW the sensor is different slightly will let you know if the problem comes back afdter clearing the code.

Cheers
