I have a 2000 Impala LS, 3.8 ltr. I have a P0440 code showing. On May 14, 2008, I could not put gas in my car . The shop scanned it and the same code came up. They replaced the EVAP solinoid and all was fine till May 25, 2008. I bought a code reader and its the same code. I cleared the code and removed and reinstalled the gas cap. Anyone have any other suggestions? Thanks. :?:

I had the 1 near the tank replaced. Should the 1 under the hood be done as well?

:?: I tightened the gas cap and reset the code hoping it was that easy. No go. engine light came on this morning. Now I'm a wrench turner only and venturing to the unknown for me. I did a freeze frame and this is what came up.

P0440

fuel sys. stat B1
cl, using H02S

Fuel sys. stat B2
0

calculated load
13.72 %

Coolant temp.
87 deg. C

St fuel trim B1
-1.57 %

Intake map
61.00 KPa

Engine speed
1949.50 rpm

vehicle speed
111.00 kph

mass air flow

Can any translate this into english for me? Is there a site to translate?

I bought a new gas cap and ordered the solenoid under the hood as well. Any other suggestions if this don't work?

Also check for loosen, clugged or broken EVAP hoses near the tank and near the engine.

Update - its been 3 weeks, replaced the purge solinoid under the hood and replaced the gas cap - cost around $35 - all is good - no more code.
