i went and installed a super charger on my 07 4.0 L v6 mustang. the kit is from explorer express . it uses a roots type blower and cast 2 peice intake manifold holding the blower down.

it just keeps poping p0172. i have removed the blower, removed the intake and replaced all the gaskets as if i just putting the kit in. funny part is it never threw any codes before when stock. the mass air senser is clean and working properly it matches the intake as sold since this is a CA/CARB spec kit. i have no problems with performance. idle, miss fire. if any thing it's to hot a street machine.

every thing else is working no codes for anything else.

any other ideas? this old fart tech sure could use a few more ideas to look into.

Is that supercharger an aftermark part for your mustang ?
Is that supercharger fitted and designed for the exactly same mustang you have ??
What modifications you did to install the supercharger ??

keep posted

Have you called the performance company you purchased it from? Usually they have troublshooting techs there to help out. If it's a common problem with those, they'll know. However, did you install an aftermarked fuel pump? Or do any mods to the fuel system whatso ever like larger injectors or different fuel pressure regulator?

the kit is a mustang only [4.0l shoc v6 only] after market kit, built by magnuson, the company that forced the magnuson/moss warrenty act. for expolrer express. and are one the best kit builders in the after market if not the very best as they also design the blower appt's for the manufactor's. this is the only roots blower unit made at this time for this german made motor. every thing is cast alloy to reduce any chances of blowing apart the plastic intake and limited to 6 pounds of boost by the blower size. [ a mp90 which is also used on the blown buick 3.8 v6] and has the lowest parasitic load of any made.

yes the injectors are larger. 34 pound to 39 pound flow per hour. the in tank fuel pump up graded. as i stated i have not found any vacume leaks nor any reason to throw a rich code for bank one. passenger side on this motor. no miss fire or plug wire not properly on the new colder plugs. yes i have made several calls to the company asking and they also are in brain melt mode with me. never haveing had this problem them selfs.

my personal feeling is if the motor was running over rich. why just one side? unless one or more of the injectors is dripping more then it should. so to see if it is a injector.today i'm going to while the motor is cold from sitting over night. swap the injectors from right to left and left to right. guess if my code changes banks,it's a injector problem. and something i very rarely saw from a bosch product in gas motor in the 42 years i worked as a auto mechanic.

i'll post a up date later, if the code moves to p0175 , meaning rich on the left bank. then i am also a dumb dumb for not thinking of trying this before
this one realy has been a mind stoper for me since the car never poped a code before the work.
thanks for trying to help guys.

i swaped the injectors side to side, after the swap the code went to p0175. now it's how to test a set of brand new injectors to find which injector is defective. ohm wise the 3 from that bank test normal.

most be one stuck open as the fault pops up real fast.
