My good mechanic friend and I replaced a shifter cable that had snapped on my 2000 MR2 spyder. We had to remove the gas tank in order to get to the shifter cable (I know, crazy huh?) Well, after we replaced the shifter cable we put everything back together. Tried starting the car and it wouldn't start, it would just crank. We checked the top of the gas tank and a wire had come loose on the fuel pressure regulator side during the removal. We connected the wire back up and the car started up just fine. It drove just fine then after about a day or so of driving my check engine light came on. Any suggestions??
yeah you've created a evap emisions problem by removing the tank. pinched a line or hooked up a valve incorrectly maybe or left something unplugged etc!
