I had P0101 show up on my Rio a while back. I cleared the code a couple times but it came back coupled with P0422. I replaced the air filter and the check engine light cleared itself. Now the check engine light is back on and the codes are once again P0101 & P0422. Could the catalytic converter cause both codes?

No, it couldn´t ¡

The P0101 is only related with the MAF, consecuently then could produce the converter malfunction but not necessarely. Clean and inspect your MAF and reset codes. If the problem continues change the MAF.
