i recently got a p0141 bank 1 sensor 2 code on my sisters 00 eclipse. so i replaced the 02 sensor at the bottom of the downpipe with a new generic bosch one. for the time being the check engine light is off but if i hook it up to a obd scanner i sitll get the p0141 code, and this is after i cleared the code several times.

i know some people say to check the fuses but where can i find the 02 sensor fuses? if the light comes back on im going to take apart the stupid 4 wire connector they supplied and do it my way, just twist up all the wires to each other with some solder

im a little lost as i figured since since the car has over 60k the sensor prob went bad. and suggestions???

I think that brand of 02 is the worst out there! especially with that bs connector kit. Seen too many problems with them and after cutting the factory connector off your forced to use there sensors again unless you replace the plug. You should never solder 02 wires because the signal wire out is only .1-.9 volts so any resistancew in the circuit throws it out of whack. the fact the code is pending but not maturing even after clearing likley means that 02 is operating just at the limits of what's accepttable. So to the pcm it's like it's only a little bit better then the defective one you removed.

Emmm, Firechicken. I hate to be the bearer of bad news, but you may have replaced the wrong sensor. "sensor 2" is usually the one downstream of the catylitic converter. I own a 1999 Eclipse RS and it has a sensor before (sensor 1) and a sensor after (sensor 2) the cat. obviously, if you replaced the wrong sensor you would continue to get the MIL (check engine). After you clear the light it takes awhile to come back so that could be what you are seeing. Take a look under the car and see if you don't find another sensor in the pipe after the cat. The good news is, if this is the case, you will have replaced both O2 sensors with aftermarket hardware for about the price of one OEM sensor. I bet that doesn't help at all huh?

ho2sensor Bank1 sensor2.

Catalyst sensor has a circuit fault. You replaced S1, you need the sensor behind the cat converter (S2- Downstream). It could also be a connector problem or a o2 sensor heater problem, so check the wiring voltage to the heater circuit.
I have a Bosch sensor on my van, it works fine, Bosch have been making these things for years, I doubt the sensor is bad, infact if it was bad you would get a different code since the sensor you replaced is in the fuel control circuit not the catalyst monitor, although both sensors are used to monitor catalyst operation. Infact you can put the one you took off the front circuit & put it into the rear sensor hole & see if that keeps the light out.
ATB Aeroman.
