This is my sons car, but of course in my name, he told me it didn't want to go, he could limp it home. I ck'd codes, yes light was on and found P0301,P0302. I changed the plugs and it still missed a little when reved up and still showed P0301,P0302? 1.8 liter engine

coils are very common on vw's

These are misfire codes on #1 and #2 cylinders. Yes, coils were problematic and were recalled for a few model years. You could call VW and give them your vin number and see if it is covered by recall. If you want to check yourself switch #1 and #2 coils to #3 and #4 and see if you get P0303 and P0304. Replacement should include all 4 coils to eliminate future misfires.
