po601 normally means that the rewriteable portion of the pcm memory has failled, normally a new pcm fixes this, should be covered under
extended or emissions warranty
can't without replacing the pcm! should have an extended warranty because it's considered an emissions component, what's the mileage on your van, what model year is it? what engine is in it?
No warranty.. Over the warranty millage. Have a 2000 Grand Voyage with 135,000 miles do not know engine stats. So what you are saying is only a dealership can fix this problem correct. Thanks for you help.
no the dealer isn't the only place that can supply the part or replace it but lots pf indepenent shops can't reprogram the new pcm once it's installed,
some models without the programming the vehicle won't start and or the check engine light will stay on
PO601 code in Chrysler points to the RAM memory the ECM uses to write and rewrite data while operating. This code is triggered when the ECM detects a failure in ANY part of those components, therefore, just the presence of the code does not mean there is any loss in drivability. A good example is an audio CD, one track may be physically scratched when viewed with the eye, but it plays fine in the CD player. This problem is correctable, and one company that can fix the issue is GoEcm.com. Ask for Edgar, who specializes in the PO601 issue plaguing the Chrysler ECM group.
